Beyond the Limits of Mechanical Recycling
Chemically Upcycled Virgin-Quality TPU

As environmental awareness grows worldwide, carbon reduction has become an inevitable trend. Novoloop uses its patented Lifecycling™ technology to transform difficult-to-recycle post-consumer polyethylene waste into high-performance Lifecycled® TPU. Lifecycled® TPU is not recycled material in the conventional sense; it is a virgin-quality material produced through chemical upcycling.

Lifecycled® TPU

Low-Carbon, High-Performance TPU

Lifecycled® TPU is a low-carbon, high-performance TPU developed by Novoloop. It is designed to reduce material carbon footprint while maintaining virgin-grade physical and processing performance.

Through material and formulation design, Lifecycled® TPU offers good low-temperature flexibility together with mechanical properties such as abrasion resistance and slip resistance. It is suitable for injection molding, extrusion, and compression molding, with applications including footwear, supercritical foaming, films, tubing, sporting goods, and more.

Key Specifications

  • Hardness Range: 67A, 75A, 85A, 90A, 95A

AR67

High-End Injection Grade

Resistance to Low-Temperature Hardening & High Abrasion Resistance

  • Even after conditioning in an extremely cold environment (-15°C) and returning to room temperature, hardness remains stable (conventional commercially available soft TPU can harden significantly when exposed to cold).
  • Compared with conventional petrochemical-based plasticized TPU, abrasion performance is improved by 40%.

AR90

High-End Injection Grade

Excellent Flex-Fatigue Resistance

Passed rigorous 90-degree flex testing with no cut growth under all listed conditions:

  • 150,000 cycles at room temperature
  • 50,000 cycles at -10°C
  • 50,000 cycles after 7 days of hydrolytic aging

AR95

High-End Injection Grade

Whole-Shoe Outsole Flex-Test Validation

Successfully passed the whole-shoe outsole flex test standard (55-degree flexing, up to 200,000 cycles), meeting the demanding performance requirements of high-end footwear applications.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Third-Party LCA Carbon-Footprint Assessment

NOVOLOOP Lifecycled® TPU has undergone a full life cycle assessment by Sphera, a leading international sustainability consultancy. The results show that, under specific product grades and conditions, Lifecycled® TPU can significantly reduce environmental impact without sacrificing physical performance, helping your brand customers achieve carbon-reduction targets.

Frequently Asked Questions

No modifications are required. This is one of Novoloop’s core value propositions. The material is precisely engineered as a seamless drop-in replacement for conventional petrochemical-based TPU. Your factory can continue using existing extrusion or injection-molding equipment, while the material’s melt flow rate (MFR) and thermal stability are comparable to conventional TPU. This enables an immediate improvement in production-line carbon-reduction benefits without additional equipment investment.
The answer lies in the fundamental difference between recycling mechanisms. Conventional “mechanical recycling” melts and reshapes waste plastics, a process that inevitably breaks polymer chains and causes material degradation. Novoloop instead uses its patented Lifecycling™ chemical upcycling technology to convert polyethylene into basic chemical feedstocks and then repolymerize them into high-quality polyols and polyurethane products. This technology provides a high degree of flexibility in material design, allowing product performance to be tailored to different application requirements. As a result, the materials can achieve true “virgin-quality” standards in properties such as tensile stress, elongation at break, and chemical resistance, enabling them to meet demanding performance tests.
Our initial focus is on the technically mature AR67, AR90, and AR95 injection-molding (Moldable) grades. These materials offer very high tensile strength together with excellent flex-fatigue resistance and resistance to low-temperature hardening. They are well suited for applications including high-end athletic-shoe/football-boot outsoles, decorative footwear components, IKEA furniture protective pads/gaskets, and cushioning/protective components for electronic products.
